Global & National Initiatives

Slow Food is a global movement of local communities and activists fighting for good, clean and fair food for all. We defend cultural and biological diversity, promote food education and the transfer of traditional knowledge and skills, and advocate for more just and equitable food policies.

Slow Food Foundation (Italy)

The Slow Food Foundation is the legal home of our global grassroots movement. It is a non-profit organization based in Italy which pursues civic, solidarity and socially useful purposes through the creation and maintenance of a network of local communities. Over 1600 chapters exist across 160 countries.

Slow Food USA

Slow Food USA strives to create a world where all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet. Our food policies maintain a power imbalance that disproportionately affects Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), low-income communities and women. Theft of land and water, worker exploitation, lack of access to nutritious foods, food apartheid, and diet-related health problems are rooted in racism, classism, gender discrimination, and other oppressive practices.
